Job Opportunities at Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site

About Drummohr

Our beautiful camping and glamping site is located close to the city of Edinburgh and within easy reach of the scenic East Lothian coastline. We strive to give our guests an unforgettable experience whatever the weather and allow them to create long-lasting memories for all the family.

Since March 2021 Drummohr has been owned by employee-owned business WCF Ltd, who also operate 2 further 5-star camping sites in Northumberland and in the Peak District.

Passionate About the Site

Our team are proud to call Drummohr their home and place of work. They run the site as if it were their own and are deeply passionate about providing our guests the warmest of welcomes from their initial enquiry right until they return home. Many guests return year after year and alongside our small number of seasonal pitch holders we now call many of them our friends. We welcome their ongoing support and loyalty to our Edinburgh campsite.

Always Looking to Improve

By talking to our guests and looking at what others do we have a great idea about what good looks like. We are always striving to make those continuous improvements that improve the facilities and amenities for our guests, no matter how small. Each guest review is carefully considered. Where we see a good idea on one site we seek to implement it across all 3. Our team are encouraged to find better ways of working at our Edinburgh campsite to improve the guest experience. We expect everyone to work to the same high standards.

No Two Days Are Ever the Same

What does working as a campsite Warden mean? Our Wardens have a diverse and interesting role and genuinely no two days are the same - from ensuring that our guests are booking the most suitable accommodation for their needs, identifying additional ways in which they can make their stay more pleasurable before and during their stay, proactively responding to guest feedback, using our social media to let guests know what we are up to, maintaining our campsite facilities to a 5-star standard and seeking to become greener in all that we do. As a small team, some who live on site, great rapport with other members of the team is a must.

Things will arise you have never seen before when working at Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site in a campsite warden role. You will be expected to turn your hands to whatever needs doing, both inside and outdoors. We seek to give our teams diverse and interesting roles, but it is inevitable that there is a large amount of cleaning particularly on lodge and glamping changeover days.

Thinking on your feet in a variety of situations is the key to being a successful campsite warden at Drummohr. Our employee owners are given huge amounts of autonomy to make the best decisions for our guests, so good problem-solving skills are a must. Out of hours there may not be anyone to run your decision by and it isn’t a 9-5 job. Despite everyone’s best intentions late arrivals do occur and particularly for the wardens there may be no official “clocking off” time on busy days.

5-Star All the Way

Our team are immensely proud of our Visit Scotland 5-star status and work hard to maintain the facilities at our Edinburgh campsite to the consistently high standards we set ourselves. All members of the team are expected to undertake a variety of roles, turn their hand to anything and be flexible and resilient depending on the needs of the site. Thinking on your feet in a variety of situations is the key to being a successful site warden who puts guest experience at the heart of everything they do.

We strive for a 95% success rate on our reviews, with most guests mentioning the friendliness and commitment of the team, as well as the cleanliness of the facilities and as an Edinburgh campsite our proximity to Scotland’s capital. We expect our teams to regularly go above and beyond to make ours guests’ stay as memorable as possible. It’s why we have so many returning guests.

Giving Something Back

The beautiful location of our Edinburgh campsite, on the shores of the Firth of Forth, is very special to us. We directly support a range of charities through corporate giving alongside some guest fundraising. We are corporate members of the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

Our owner WCF has a number of different charitable partnerships, as well as providing donations of both cash and product to a range of local and national charities.

Our Team

We aim to give our people diverse and interesting roles and empower them to contribute positively and independently to the campsite’s success. We foster a culture of continuous learning and invest in ongoing training and personal development.

Our structure facilitates the divestment of responsibility and autonomy through Site Manager Angie Purves and her team, allowing them to make good decisions on behalf of our guests. We encourage them to run our Edinburgh campsite as if it were their own. We focus on ensuring that our teams receive a positive employee experience when working for us. This in turn fosters high levels of employee engagement and team retention which is unusual in the leisure sector, particularly in the role of campsite warden. This allows our people to retain high levels of personal connection with the campsite and our loyal guests.

WCF are proud to be a Real Living Wage employer. This means that we pay our people a wage rate based on the real cost of living, as well as providing free touring pitches for our on-site campsite wardens. As part of a larger organisation our teams are also eligible for a wide range of other benefits.

Our Structure

Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site is a division of WCF Ltd, an employee-owned business with a rich Cumbrian legacy. Our unique structure of employee ownership and shared sense of purpose means that everyone at our Edinburgh campsite has a personal interest in our continued success. This allows them to take good long-term decisions.

Everyone at WCF shares financially in our success through our annual Employee Ownership Dividend and/or the issue of free shares. This creates a lasting bond with the company. More importantly we are all encouraged to use our Employee Voice.
