Scotland has an abundance of land and national cycle trail networks, mountain bike centres and indoor, outdoor and gravel tracks. Perfect for road cycling, mountain biking, gravel biking and e-bikes.

Our cyclist-friendly campsite near Edinburgh offers a range of accommodation and amenities to help make your stay more comfortable. 

• Bus stop within 5 minutes walk of the site entrance. Unfortunately East Lothian Buses only accept foldable bikes in a carrying case on board. 
• Wallyford train station is a 5-minute ride and trains take 10 minutes into Edinburgh Waverley or along the coast to North Berwick. ScotRail allow bikes on board. For timetables click HERE.
• All our tent and touring pitches have electric hook-up if you need to recharge your electric bike, as well as our glamping pods and glamping bothies with electric
• Free hot showers in our newly refurbished amenity block
• Indoor campers kitchen with facilities and vending machines
• Free WiFi to allow you to download your maps and tours for the following day
• Somewhere warm and dry to hang wet clothing in our laundry on-site

Ace Bike Co in MUseelburgh have a range of bikes and accessories for sale, as well as two workshops. GO e-bike have collection hubs at Brunton Hall and the railway station at Musselburgh. Otherwise the closest place to hire pedal bikes will be on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

East Lothian Cycleways

East Lothian is a wonderful county for cycling especially if you're a bit of a novice or want to go out on a leisurely cycle with the family whilst staying at our cyclist-friendly campsite. The routes are mainly flat and there is a lot of choice for tracks and paths away from the roads. 

Cycling porvides a journey for discovery, an opportunity to disconnect and experience nature as well as being a great physical activity.

Our favourite East Lothian cycleways include: 

• The 134 John Muir Way from Dunbar to Helensburgh is suitable for walkers and cyclists and passes by Drummohr making us an ideal John Muir Way campsite near Edinburgh. 
• For a circular route between Musselburgh, Prestonpans, Tranent, Cockenzie and Port Seton CLICK HERE. 
• The Pencaitland Railway path is a great cycle ride. 
• North Esk Cycle Loop 
• The Penicuick to Muselburgh cycle path passes the old Edinburgh to Peebles railway and you can follow the track from Musselburgh to Dalkeith (5 miles), Dalkeith through to Penicuick (10 miles) or Musselburgh to Edinburgh (5 miles).
• The Go East Lothian trail starts and ends in North Berwick and at 39 miles is a perfect mountain or gravel bike day ride for all the family.

National Cycle Routes in East Lothian

There are a number of national trail cycle networks passing through Edinburgh and East Lothian and a stay at Drummohr can be combined as part of a multi-day cycle tour.

• National Cycle Route 1 is part of the long-distance Coast and Castles Sustrans route spanning the United Kingdom, National Cycle Network Route 1 connects Midlothian to the Forth Road Bridge. Running through the heart of Edinburgh along traffic-free paths and quiet roads, Route 1 is both a vital commuting link and a great chance for the whole family to escape the bustle of Scotland's capital city. The Sustrans Coast and Castles South travels the 200 miles between Newcastle and Edinburgh linking the Tyne and Forth estuaries and passing several fantastic landmarks such as Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle. The 172-mile Sustrans Coast and Castle North route travels between Edinburgh and Aberdeen crossing the Kingdom of Fife.

• National Cycle Route 76 traces the south banks of the Forth Estuary, connecting Edinburgh to Musselburgh and Haddington in the east. It continues westerly towards Stirling past Dalmeny Estate and Blackness Castle, instantly recognisable in the imposing shadows of the Forth Bridges.

• National Cycle Route 196 is a mostly traffic-free route along leafy railway paths and quiet roads, connecting the market town of Haddington in East Lothian to Penicuik in Midlothian. Winding past the Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery and the famous Roslyn Chapel, the route also links to National Cycle Route 1 south of Edinburgh.
